Where: Start is at 10700 Columbia Pike (Rte 29; aka Colesville Road), at Burnt Mills West Special Park (north of Silver Spring, MD; 1.5 miles north of DC Beltway);
From DC Beltway – I-495, cumming from the West: Take exit 30A, to merge onto US-29N/Colesville Road north toward Columbia. Go north for 1.5 miles to bottom of hill, and immediately after crossing the bridge for the Northwest Branch, with a dam to your left, turn left into the parking lot near the dam. Park and Hash. (larger parking area is also available to the right, across the street at 10701 Columbia Pike, at Burnt Mills East Special Park) If you see the Trader Joe’s on your right, you have gone a bit too far. **FYI: When you cross the bridge, Colesville Rd becomes Columbia Pike—they are both Rte. 29.
From DC Beltway – I-495, cumming from the East: Take exit 29 for MD-193W (north)/University Blvd to Wheaton. After 0.5 miles, right at the third light on Colesville Road/Rte. 29, go 0.9 miles to bottom of hill, and immediately after crossing the bridge for the Northwest Branch, with a dam to your left, turn left into the parking lot. Park and Hash. (larger parking area is also available to the right, across the street at 10701 Columbia Pike, at Burnt Mills East Special Park) If you see the Trader Joe’s on your right, you have gone too far.
From the north, proceed south on Rte. 29 (you can take Rte. 200/Inter-county Connector to Rte 29). From the intersection with Rte. 200 (ICC), go south on Rte. 29/Columbia Pike for 4 miles. After you see the Trader Joe’s and then a gas station on your left, make a right into the parking lot just before the bridge. Park and hash. (larger parking area is also available on the left, across the street at 10701 Columbia Pike, at Burnt Mills East Special Park)
